The old device – an excursion into history
The Nokia 3310 feature phone from the past was a classic dark blue phone. This model was released in 2000 and at the moment it is the most popular device of the company. However, to understand why – so far it has not worked out. The phone itself did not have any interesting features or innovations. It had a black-and-white screen with a resolution of only 84×48, there was no camera, Bluetooth, or anything else.
However, over the entire existence of the Nokia 3310, more than 126 million people were able to buy, which was a record.

In 2017, the company decided to re-release their iconic device, but in an updated case and with a modern filling. It’s still the same Nokia 3310, an old model, but with an updated look. But what exactly has changed in the phone and for the better?
Appearance
Releasing a feature phone in 2017 is a pretty risky move. But Nokia managed to keep the recognizable look of the old model, while giving the 2017 Nokia 3310 a nice modern look. Key details and elements remain, but there are changes:
- Firstly, the phone has become a little bigger and thinner , mainly due to the larger screen. In this form, the mobile device looks less “toy” and fits better in the hand.
- Secondly, the range of colors has expanded to four . Now it’s blue, red, yellow and white. Before that, there was only blue color + you could buy replacement panels.
- Now the case is not collapsible, made of very dense plastic . All colors except blue are glossy.
The overall size of the device is 51×115.6×12.8 mm.
Display
The main change of this model was the screen. If before that the phone had a black-and-white display with a resolution of only 84×48, now it is a full-fledged 2.4-inch color screen with a resolution of 320×240. Such a parameter may seem “meager”, but if you calculate, we get a pixel density of 167, which corresponds to modern smartphones. Viewing angles are excellent here, thanks to the fact that the screen itself is slightly convex.
Battery
One of the “calling cards” of the old Nokia 3310 is the battery. The previous model could hold a charge for almost a month. But how are things now? The battery capacity of the device is 1200 mAh, which is even more than that of some modern smartphones. And since the consumption here is minimal, the charge lasts a very long time. In standby mode, the device can easily last up to 25 days. In talk mode – 22 hours, and when listening to the radio about 40 hours. According to user reviews, with active work, the phone was able to live without recharging for about 8 days, which is considered an excellent result.

It is clear that the photos on this device are more of a domestic nature than a real desire to capture any moment. Surprising was the fact that the 3310 can even record video. Its resolution is only 360p, but for such a small screen, this is normal.
Interface
The Nokia 3310 has a great interface that retains the familiar layout of the past, while modernizing some elements. It also has a menu that is very easy to navigate. Everything you need is in plain sight – messages, phone book. Any adjustments are also easy. Most likely, initially the device was designed for a more “age” audience, and based on this – the phone is very convenient. There is even a cult snake here, albeit in a slightly modified form. Otherwise, it’s a great reworking of an old phone.
